From a Virtual Tour of Germany to Making Gnocchi, Via Observes IEW
Like many of our colleagues in the International Education field, Via will be celebrating International Education Week (IEW) 2022 with a wide range of events and activities from November 14-18.
IEW is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education aimed at celebrating the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. Participants range from colleges and universities to businesses and international organizations.
Here’s what Via will be doing this week to celebrate—and there are some opportunities for you to join along too!
International Education Week at Via
Monday, November 14:
- During our weekly Monday Mashup, we’ll entertain an IEW-specific question presented by Krystle Karee, our associate UX/UI designer.
- At 9 a.m. (EST), we’ll join our friends at the Study Abroad Association for a virtual tour of Munich, Germany. Register for free.
- We’ll crank up our Spotify playlist of music from around the world—starting on Monday and listening all week long (and beyond). Get it here and dance along! We also invite you to enjoy this hang drum duo on YouTube.
Tuesday, November 15:
- We’ll be tuning in from 6-7 p.m. (EST) for a free event sponsored by ROC Your Global Future. It will feature Jo Franco, a travel and language content creator, polyglot, writer and TV host of Netflix’s World’s Most Amazing Vacation Rentals. Register for this free event.
Wednesday, November 16:
- We’ll be joining our friends at the Study Abroad Association again, this time for a guided virtual tour of Cusco, Peru. Register for free and join along!
- We’re so fortunate at Via to have a chef on our team! At 6 p.m. (EST) we’ll jump on Zoom with Chef Alex Mathieu, our senior backend software engineer, to learn how to make Gnocchi, an Italian dumpling dish. Get his recipe here.
Thursday, November 17:
- How many countries can you name? The Via team will be taking the “Countries of the World” quiz. We’ll take 15 minutes to see how many countries each of us can name. The winner(s) will be announced during our Friday Good Vibes meeting. You can play the game here.
Friday, November 18:
- We’ll recap the week and talk about what we loved most about IEW. Then we’ll announce the winners of the Countries of the World Quiz during our Good Vibes meeting!
